Use of organic photovoltaic technology has shifted the way we stay powered up.
As I over heard these two old geysers talking the other day I was struck dumb when the first guy defiantly stated that and I quote "When they have poolside umbrellas charging my six pack cooler that'll be the day piggies fly out of my butt". Well you ain't gonna believe the article I saw last week.
It seems that Konarka Technologies has begun selling a product that looks like a poolside umbrella that has photovoltaic panels on top of the base material. The article had a picture and everything. Go to this site to read the article and see the new gadget: http://bit.ly/sOyRc
With the flexible collectors on the canopy of the umbrella it appears that you can charge your gadgets at plugin type outlets around the base of the pole at the table top level. This first of a kind organic photovoltaic contraption keeps your radio playing, your phone charged while you sip a cold one from your electric beer cooler.
The output of this first of a kind product is admittedly low.
They have even installed a battery like energy storage unit insjde the pole to be charged all day every day. A logical extension of this thought train may lead one to fore see a time when every surface exposed to sunlight is collecting then converting photons into store able electricity.
This idea is by no means original to this writer. However, Just a little walk through fantasy wonderland can lead us to roofing made to roll out over large roof areas, walls and window covering contributing to electrical collection.
Every window in every building can now be made out of architectural glass that collects photons that can then be converted into electricity. Of course the parking lot awning roofs are already being utilized in some townhouse projects.
It appears we're getting closer to where we want to go with this universally available power. We need only to continue to study and develop cost efficient ways to produce more electricity.
